OG measurement toolkit
A small toolkit. A better measurement.
Measure, convert, or take a ruler with you. Choose the tool that matches your task.
Calibrate your screen. Place scales on any edge, pin movable guides, and compare width and height.
PAPER / A4 & US LETTERPrintable ruler ↗Download a metric or inch PDF with physical print checks. Print at 100%, verify, and cut.
DISPLAY / PIXEL DENSITYPPI calculator ↗Calculate screen density, pixel pitch, and physical dimensions from resolution and diagonal.
LEARN / PRACTICAL GUIDANCEMeasurement guides ↗Understand calibration, fractions, alignment, and where a screen measurement needs verification.
Find the ruler for your task
These experiences share one calibrated measuring engine, with different scales, worked examples, and helpers. Choose a unit for reading, dual scales for comparison, or a reference check when physical size matters.
Measure in centimeters, then read the extra millimeters. Start with screen calibration; each small tick is 0.1 cm.
IN / FRACTIONInch ruler ↗Find the right fractional tick without guessing. Enter a decimal or a mixed fraction such as 2 3/8 inches.
MM / OFFSETMillimeter ruler ↗Read every small interval as 1 mm. Use the offset helper when the object cannot start at the scale’s origin.
CM / DUALDual-scale screen ruler ↗Two units. One physical length. The top scale reads centimeters; the bottom reads inches using the same calibration.
MM / CHECKActual-size ruler check ↗A browser cannot guarantee physical size on its own. Calibrate, display a known span, then verify it against a trusted ruler.
CM / PHONEPhone ruler ↗A touch-first ruler for objects that fit beside your phone. Calibrate, choose an edge, and tap to pin an endpoint.
Length converters
These calculators use exact unit definitions. They show decimal lengths, inch-ruler fractions, feet and inches, and the error introduced by fraction rounding. They do not need screen calibration. Browse the complete length conversion library, organized by your starting unit.
Turn a metric measurement into decimal inches and a usable ruler fraction. See how much precision you lose when rounding to a tick mark.
CM → INCentimeters to inches.Read the decimal answer, find its nearest inch-ruler mark, and keep the rounding difference visible.
IN → MMInches to millimeters.Convert a decimal, fraction, or mixed inch measurement into millimeters. No need to turn 2 3/8 into a decimal first.
MM → MMillimeters to meters.Turn a detailed drawing dimension into a room-scale length while keeping every millimeter in the calculation.
CM → FTCentimeters to feet.Read a centimeter length as decimal feet or as whole feet plus the remaining inches.
FT → MFeet to meters.Convert a foot-based length into meters for metric forms, room plans, or dimensional comparisons.
Choose a tool by what you need to know
If you have an object but no measurement, start with the screen ruler or a printed ruler. If you already have a number and need another unit, choose a converter. If you know a screen’s resolution and size, the PPI calculator explains its density and physical dimensions.
Numerical conversion, screen calibration, and print scaling are different tasks. The converters do not depend on your display. The screen ruler depends on a calibration you verify. Printed rulers depend on the printer keeping the PDF at 100% scale. Our accuracy methodology explains those boundaries.
